Kiera, Marita, and Alanah recently attended the International Conference for Eating Disorders (ICED), hosted by the Academy of Eating Disorders (AED), in Prague.

Marita also presented a measure she has recently developed in conjunction with CFIH dietitian, Kate Pollard; ‘the Eating for Muscularity Scale’. Marita and Kate hope the scale will better enable medical and health practitioners to more accurately identify and treat those eating disorders (particularly occurring with males) which present differently to more traditional and better understood eating disorders such as Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa. For more information about the scale, please contact Marita directly via email.

Finally, Kiera was invited to attend a “Meeting of the Minds” in response to a recent article of the International Journal on Eating Disorders, titled “An idea worth researching. Long-term weight loss maintenance in obesity: Possible insights from anorexia nervosa?”. The team of experts discussed the implications of the article, formulated a response to both the authors and the journal itself, explored the possible weight stigma in the eating disorder field, and discussed possible actions aimed at further progressing the field in this area.
