Description
About June: June is a highly recognised and regarded author in the field of eating disorders, having written nine books in the ten years since her own recovery (or as she describes it her “reconnection to her true self”). June’s contribution to the field was recognised at the 2016 Academy for Eating Disorders International Conference in San Francisco where she was awarded the Meehan/Harley Award for Public Service and Advocacy.
She is currently the co-chair of the NEDC Steering Committee Evidence of Experience Group, member of the AED Carer and Consumer Committee, a foundation steering committee member of the inaugural World Eating Disorders Action Day in June 2016, and an Advisory Panel member for F.E.A.S.T.
About the Event: The workshop will be based on (and extend upon) June’s most recent book, Using Writing as a Therapy for Eating Disorders – The Diary Healer, released this July. The event will be a workshop for professionals who currently work with, or wish to learn more about working with, individuals with eating disorders.
During the workshop, June will present examples of the benefits (and pitfalls) of diary writing in therapy, introduce how to engage clients in the writing process, and support attendees to incorporate journalling into their treatment toolkit.
